Light is the foundation of photography and photographers are constantly learning new ways to manipulate light and pose our subjects in flattering ways. As a starting point to any photography shoot is deciding between an indoor or outdoor venue, and there are pros and cons for either, depending on your goals.

Indoor venues

  1. Weather: You’re indoors. Air-con and a place to put aside your barang barang safely.

  2. Lighting: Day or night, we control the light effects and pace of shoot. No hurrying to capture the right moment or move into position.

  3. Privacy: Closed doors.

  4. Facilities: Access to changing rooms, bathrooms, and make up table.

Minus

  1. Time: Early booking required to secure preferred timing.

  2. Cost: Additional costs for studio/venue rental.

Outdoor venues

  1. Lighting: Natural lights gives a different ambiance like golden hour. This is the time of day when the sun is perfectly at an angle to make you feel and look your best.

  2. Background: Depending on the desired look, people, buildings, bridges or walls can add as interesting backdrops.

  3. Time: Greater flexibility to arrange preferred timings.

Minus

  1. Weather: Risk of rain, reschedule of photography shoots possible.

  2. Privacy: Public location. Enough said.

  3. Facilities: Need to lug around our barang barang and keep a constant lookout.
